Red Funnel announces revised Hi-Speed Timetable
15-04-2005 Red Funnel has announced changes to the hi-speed timetable that will take effect from Monday 25 April.
The changes will ensure the hi-speed service connects with South West Train services arriving in Southampton from London Waterloo, and with services leaving Southampton for Waterloo at the peak commuter time. The decision to alter the timetable was made after market research, carried out on the effected sailings, highlighted that the majority of customers supported the change.
The timetable changes are as follows:
As of 25 April, the 0730 hi-speed service from Southampton to West Cowes will depart at 0720, seven days a week, arriving in West Cowes at 0742. This sailing will then connect more effectively with the London Waterloo train that arrives in Southampton Central at 0700. The CityLink free bus service departs from the station at 0709 and connects with the new 0720 Red Jet departure.
As of 25 April, the 0800 hi-speed service from West Cowes to Southampton will depart at 0750, seven days a week, arriving in to Southampton at 0812 to connect (via the CityLink bus service) with the 0830 London Waterloo train.
Islanders who currently use the 0800 Red Jet service and arrive at West Cowes via Southern Vectis services from Newport, are advised to catch the 0715 bus from Newport (service 3) that arrives at West Cowes at 0735 (Mon-Sat).
Red Funnel are also conducting more detailed research on board the Red Jets over the next month, canvassing opinion about the hi-speed service with a view to making future changes and improvements based on customer feedback.
