Red Funnel Ferries changes its logo in support for Solent Pride events

Fri, Jul 5 2019

To mark two upcoming major Pride events in the Solent, Red Funnel Ferries, the original Isle of Wight ferry provider, has changed its logo to reflect the iconic Pride flag colours.

The logo on the side of Red Funnel’s vehicle and passenger ferry, Red Falcon, has been repainted from the classic red to the colours of the rainbow in support of the LGBT+ community.

Globally, June marked Pride month and during the summer, two local Pride events are set to take place either side of the Solent, with the Isle of Wight Pride on July 20th and Southampton Pride on August 24th, where Red Funnel will be an official partner and walk in the parade.

Commenting on Red Funnel’s support of the two local Pride events, Red Funnel’s CEO, Fran Collins said: “Inclusion and diversity are fundamental to our culture and core values. Equal opportunities are available at Red Funnel to everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, belief, sexual orientation, family status or disability and the essence of the Pride movement underpins this same ethos.

“The Pride logo on our ferry, Red Falcon, which we’re dubbing “Pride Funnel”, represents so much more than Red Funnel showing its support for the LGBT+ community. It’s a reminder that it is vital to ensure that our workplace is a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for everyone. It’s a declaration and a commitment that we will continue to respect and strive to understand one another and embrace diversity within our workplace.

“It symbolises the fact that everyone brings something unique to the table here at Red Funnel, and it’s this variety of diversity, skills, life experiences, personalities and perspectives that will set us up for continued success.”
