Red Funnel announces pre-Easter Success
20-04-2007 Red Funnel has announced positive traffic figures for March 2007. Car traffic increased significantly compared to the same period last year.
The figures show that Red Funnel’s car traffic was up 23.4% for March 2007, giving the Company a cross-Solent market share of 29.6%, a 4.1% growth over March 2006.
Red Funnel, which operates both passenger vehicle ferries and high-speed catamaran services between Southampton and East and West Cowes, revealed its year-to-date Red Jet Hi-Speed market share has also increased from 38.3% in 2006 to 40.6% in 2007.
The ferry company’s commercial traffic also showed strong growth, with an 8.9% year-on-year increase in traffic.
Red Funnel has invested heavily in its onboard facilities to cater for the rising number of passengers who expect a wide choice of high quality food and first class service when travelling. Capitalising on the huge success of the ‘bean-to-cup’ coffee brand ‘Steam Coffee Company’ which was introduced in 2006, Red Funnel has recently launched ‘ReFuel’, its new food station concept on all passenger vehicle ferry sailings between Southampton and East Cowes.
