New treeclimbing course with Red Funnel
09-02-2011 Three day course, accommodation and ferry packages from £488*
Tree climbing is no longer limited to the realm of small children with scabby knees and grubby elbows. Now the grown ups can get involved. Goodleaf on the Isle of Wight is offering a new three-day tree-climbing course so that adults can re-master a childhood skill and learn a few extra tricks along the way.
The specialist tree-climbing course offers the chance to get up close and personal with an array of ancient trees and view the Island from a different perspective. Taking place at several locations across the Isle of Wight, a qualified instructor will give lessons on site about which knots to use, how to use the equipment, how to climb, move around the canopy and most importantly get back down to earth without breaking a fingernail.
Participants will also be able to take away these newfound skills to practise in their local woodland or garden after gaining a deeper understanding for the flora and fauna around them.
Wannabe peeping-toms need not apply.
Courses are held throughout the year for small groups and include three days instruction from 9am – 5pm, a tree identification book, a tree climbers handbook, equipment hire, morning and afternoon tea and costs £395. Return Red Funnel Vehicle Ferry travel to the Isle of Wight starts at £44 for a short break, but you can save up to 50% off ferry travel when you book your accommodation through Red Funnel.* To book the course call 0333 800 1188 or visit www.goodleaf.co.uk for more details.
