More support for Isle of Wight Day
07-02-2017 Following the huge success of the Island's Isle of Wight Day last September, Red Funnel is delighted to announce an increase in its financial support to coincide with the launch of the 2017 Isle of Wight Day by the High Sheriff.
The 2017 event on the 23 September includes a ‘people’s parade’ in Ryde, an exciting ‘Island’s Got Talent’ competition organised by Rob da Bank and the establishment of an Isle of Wight Day Fund which seeks to raise badly needed funds for deserving Island causes.
Last year, Red Funnel contributed £10,000 to help pay for 80 miles of iconic bunting. This year, Red Funnel will be increasing its support to £14,000 to help celebrate all that is good about the Isle of Wight. The company will also be publicising a travel offer nearer the time to encourage Islanders to invite their mainland friends and family over for what promises to be a special party weekend.
Kevin George, Red Funnel’s CEO commented “The High Sheriff, Robin Courage and his team did an amazing job organising the inaugural Isle of Wight Day in 2016 and we are delighted to increase our financial support to make 2017 an even bigger celebration of Island life”.
