Leading tourism business recognised in Red Funnel's 2015 MyIoW Awards

20-01-2016 The fourth annual Red Funnel My Isle of Wight Awards showcased the best of the Island's tourism businesses in a ceremony at Northwood House in Cowes last night (19 January).

Some 90 businesses gathered to find out who had clinched the coveted winning trophy in 30 different award categories, including the best 'Things to Do & See', 'Favourite Places to Eat' and 'Top Places to Stay'.

This year saw an all time record number of 38,522 votes cast by visitors to the Island, an increase of 14% vs. 2014. This makes it by far the biggest and most important competition of its kind on the Isle of Wight.

Among the businesses honoured on the night was Osborne House which won two out of the three categories it had received nominations for: ‘Best Event to be Immersed in Culture’ and ‘Best Place to Go Back in Time’.  V Dub Island won the ‘Best Event to Lie Back and Soak Up the Sounds’ and the Union Inn, Cowes, won, for the first time, all three categories it was shortlisted for: ‘Best Homemade Burger’, ‘Best OldyWorlde Pub with Island Ales’ and ‘Most Comfy Bed & Breakfast’.

Kevin George, CEO at Red Funnel, said: "We would like to congratulate all the 2015 My Isle of Wight Award winners and nominees who help make the Isle of Wight such a unique and special place to visit. Their combined efforts play a vital role in enhancing the destination and attracting more new and repeat visitors to the Island”.
