Enjoy the Isle of Wight Walking Festival Weekend with discounts from Red Funnel
08-10-2009 Fantastic food and drink offer, plus 32,000 ferry crossings for just £32
This October, the Isle of Wight is once again hosting one of the UK’s biggest walking festivals. During half term weekend, from 23-26 October the festival will feature an array of different, exciting and unusual walks to suit everyone.
To fuel walkers on their travels, Red Funnel is offering a £4 voucher for use on the superb range of hot and cold food onboard. Choose from premium coffee, freshly baked cakes, and an array of locally sourced produce. To claim the voucher, walkers should visit www.redfunnel.co.uk/walking.
The Isle of Wight is renowned for the spectacular views from its 500 miles of footpaths. With over half of the Island recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and over 30 miles of beautiful heritage coastline, the twice-yearly Isle of Wight Walking Festival makes the most of what the Island has to offer for walkers:
Those looking for love should take part in the ever-popular Speed Dating Walk on 25 October, which follows the sweeping crescent of Sandown Bay and finishes with a romantic drink and light lunch at Fisherman’s Cottage.
There are also ghoulish family favourites ahead of Halloween such as the Wolf Tales walk through Dickson’s Copse and the Ghost Walk around the old village and parks of Shanklin with stories of ghosts, smugglers and buried treasure galore.
A little less scary, but equally exciting is the Dinosaur Walk which takes in the local beaches of Brighstone or Brook in search of dinosaur footprints and fossils with an expert guide. Or, for a more enchanting experience, The Princess Walk entails participating children parading in prince and princess finery in the splendid regal setting of Carisbrooke Castle, ending with a picnic spread.
Bed & breakfast accommodation is available though Red Funnel Holidays from £75 per room for a family of four per night. Holidaymakers who book accommodation with Red Funnel will receive a 50% discount on crossings when they spend over £500 and a 25% discount on crossings when spending less than £500.
Red Funnel is currently offering 32,000 car returns to the Isle of Wight for only £32 in their massive autumn sale. Vehicle ferries run regularly around the clock from Southampton, and the Red Jet Hi-Speed foot passenger service offers excellent connections with public transport, and whisks visitors to the Island in just 23 minutes.
