Red Funnel teams up with DIT to bring exporting advice to Island businesses
1 March 2017 – Red Funnel is providing support to the Department for International Trade (DIT) as it brings its Routes to Market Roadshow to the Isle of Wight for the first time.
The roadshow, which has previously travelled around mainland UK, will visit East Cowes this Friday (3 March 2017) to deliver expert advice on exporting, to businesses based on the Island.
The DIT has compiled a panel of experts from the food & drink, retail and consumer goods sectors to answer questions and give advice on how Island businesses can tap into the global opportunities available to them. The event will also feature one-to-one appointments for businesses to receive feedback and individual guidance.
Tom Fourcade, Department of International Trade, Director Export and Investments for Southern England, said: "Economic research consistently shows that exporting helps companies grow and here in the South East the Department for International Trade is determined to help Isle of Wight companies succeed in the global race. We're already working with thousands of companies across the region to do just that, and we want to help a great many more.
The demand for your product is out there and our free no obligation Routes to Market Roadshow event, part of the Government's Exporting is GREAT campaign to get 100,000 more UK companies exporting by 2020, could be your route to reaping the benefits from that demand."
Kevin George, CEO at Red Funnel, said: "We are proud to be supporting the DIT Routes to Market Roadshow which is part of our ongoing support for Island businesses. An event such as this, where free exporting advice is readily available, is so important to any Isle of Wight business looking to expand its markets and succeed overseas."
The panel will be introduced by Andrew Turner MP and will include Gary Townley, Intellectual Property Office; Stuart Stoter, UK Export Finance; Claire Bennett, Island Ales and Chris Brammall, Isle of Wight Council.
The roadshow will be in Seaholme Yard in East Cowes (adjacent to Red Funnel's East Cowes terminal building) from 8-11am and is free of charge.
