Businesses shortlisted for 2016 My Isle of Wight Award
17-01-2017 Proud businesses are eagerly awaiting the results of tomorrow night’s 2016 Red Funnel My Isle of Wight Awards.
A total of 34,164 votes were cast for Isle of Wight businesses over 24 categories - with the winners set to be announced at The Cow Co in Tapnell tomorrow. Red Funnel CEO Kevin George will announce the winners with David Thornton, of View Isle of Wight (VIOW), reading out the nominees.
The awards, established by Red Funnel five years ago, is the only visitor-voted competition on the Island and recognises tourist businesses that make an outstanding contribution.
The awards feature a range of categories, including Best Rustic Camping Experience, Most Luxurious B&B and Best Place for a Shin Dig.
In total, 54 businesses have been shortlisted for the Danish-themed awards “Get Hygge” – translating as meaning celebrating together in a cosy environment with candles, furs, warming hearty food, wine and good company.
Kevin George, Red Funnel CEO, said: “Red Funnel's My Isle of Wight Awards has an exciting range of businesses that have been shortlisted for this year’s event. These businesses help make the Isle of Wight such a special place to visit and provide tourists with unforgettable memories.
It is great to recognise them for the excellent work they have done throughout the year. I look forward to announcing the winners at what promises to be an amazing event.”
Alix Robinson, editor of MyIsleofWight, said: “The 2016 Awards see us welcome some new and exciting nominees – who the public have voted for due to their excellence and outstanding contributions they make to the visitor experience on the Island each year.
“We’re going for a stripped back ‘hygge’ theme at this year’s event as we want all the businesses to get together to celebrate their achievements.”
