Bank Holiday events and deals on the Isle of Wight with Red Funnel

17-08-2009 With plenty of events on the Isle of Wight this August bank holiday weekend, Red Funnel is offering a range of fantastic places to stay so visitors can make the most of the last of the summer.

Highlights of the weekend include the Cowes Powerboat Festival, the annual Scooter Rally and the Madness concert at the stunning Carisbrooke Castle.

Cowes Powerboat Festival, 28 August – 29 August  
The Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat Series is returning to the Isle of Wight with the British Powerboat Racing Club for a celebration of speed. On 29 August, a fleet of powerboats will be led to the start line at 10am by Red Funnel’s Red Jet 4 to race either to Poole or Torquay and back again. This high-speed competition will wow the large crowds that gather in Cowes to take in a slice of the action on the water, and the glamour on the shore.

Scooter Rally, Ryde, 29 – 31 August
The bank holiday weekend welcomes the arrival of around 5,000 scooters to the Isle of Wight as enthusiasts from around the world descend on the Island. The Ryde Ice Stadium is the main hub with shows, competitions, bands and DJs providing the entertainment. The highlight of the weekend is the organised ride-out around the Island providing a colourful spectacle for participants and spectators alike.

Summer Madness, Carisbrooke Castle Fields, 30 August 2009
British ska pop legend Madness will be headlining the hotly anticipated open-air music extravaganza “Summer Madness!” in the shadow of a magnificent medieval fortress at Carisbrooke Castle Fields.
