Red Funnel opens applications for its Charity of the Year 2016

19-11-2015 Following an exciting and successful collaboration with Isle of Wight-based charity UKSA in 2015, Red Funnel is inviting local charities to apply to become its 2016 charity of the year.

The ferry firm, who raised £35,000 for UKSA in 2015 through online match-funding among other fundraising activities, is urging local charities whose aims are to support local community groups to apply online for the chance of teaming up in 2016.

Shirley Anderson, HR director at Red Funnel, said: “We take our social responsibility very seriously and strive to build long-term trusting relationships with all of our stakeholders. It is our aim to foster a culture where our staff and customers love working together to support the local communities that we serve, on a continually sustainable basis.

“We are so proud to have raised such a fantastic amount for UKSA this year and enjoyed every minute of it, so we are really looking forward to doing the same for another worthwhile cause throughout 2016. Over the next year we will also continue to help fund local charities who share our social responsibility aims, particularly those supporting the Isle of Wight community.”

Applicants are required to submit a short narrative proposal, explaining the purpose of the charity and ideas of how it can work with Red Funnel to hit fundraising targets.
Interested charities can find more information at and completed submissions must be returned by 30 November. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their submission at a company presentation on Wednesday 9 December.
