What's On
This year North Sails Cowes Week is celebrating its Bicentenary, making it the worlds oldest and largest regatta of it’s kind.
Attracting competitors from all over the world, North Sails Cowes Week is a rite of passage for any sailing enthusiast and a real celebration of the sport. Expect America’s cup, Olympic and Sail GP sailors rubbing shoulders with amateur and family crews racing in boats of all different shapes and sizes.
For those not taking part on the water, dedicated event areas and the local town offer a plethora of bars, great places to eat, and live entertainment and music during the week.
In celebration of the 200th, every day at North Sails Cowes Week offers something different from Aerial Displays and Fireworks to a Martime Heritage Trail throughout the town delving into the history of the regatta and a full schedule of live entertainment. The Cowes Parade or Regatta Village at the Cowes Yacht Haven are some of the best places to sit and soak up the atmosphere. From the Parade you’re just 80m from the start and finish line at the Royal Yacht Squadron with the famous Cowes Week cannons starting up at 10.30am each morning to get the racing underway – a real spectacle.
A short walk along the Green in Cowes provides great viewing and if the wind and tides allow, the boats can get really close to the shore where the crew keep a sharp eye out for the rocks below! For those wanting to get closer to the racing action, a spectator boat heads out three times a day and bookings can be made via the website.
