Isle of Wight Garlic Festival

Since 1983, the world-famous Isle of Wight Garlic Festival has been held on the third weekend in August at the heart of the Arreton Valley, just a stone’s throw away from some of the Island’s (and UK’s!) best food producers. This garlic-fuelled family summer show, now in its 41st year, is attended by thousands of visitors.

Garlic is always the festival showstopper, you’ll find it everywhere at the festival, to eat, drink, buy to take home and win in the Garlic Games! A family friendly festival with a curious mixture of garlic, late sixties pop festival ambiance and country fair, coupled with masses of entertainment for children and adults.

You’ll find flying birds and bikes in the arenas and talented chefs and local producers in the theatre kitchen. With a strong sense of community and short distances between farms and facilities, collaboration is thriving. A fun example is one The Garlic Farm pioneered with The Tomato Stall and Isle of Wight Distillery – The Black Garlic Bloody Mary is not to be missed!

Make sure you arrive hungry because scrummy food is at every turn!  The ever-popular sweetcorn cobs, grown just down the road, smothered in garlic butter are unmissable. Even better, it’s hosted by the fabulous Wave Project Isle of Wight, who have raised thousands of pounds for the surf club here on the Island.

There’s plenty of fabulous live music all weekend on the big stage and kids entertainment galore at Camp Garlic, plus free arts and crafts, circus fun, archery and marquees packed with talented makers. All this and you’ll be overlooking the most wonderful scenery at the very heart of the Island. What could be better? Grab yourself a tasty treat, a cider, real ale or a G&T from the festival beer tent, pop yourself on a straw bale, relax and take it all in!
