Boasting one of the best views of Ventnor Seafront from its lofty perch, the Rex Piano Bar has an Art Deco style to match the apartment building beneath which it sits. And they now serve possibly the best pizzas on the Island, since Riccardo the owner’s Italian nephew became chef.


Sourcing bone fide Italian flour for his freshly thrown pizza bases and using the best ingredients, Riccardo’s pizzas are bringing customers from miles around, and they can also be ordered to take away. The pizza menu has over 25 different variations and there are another seven ‘special’ pizzas. Riccardo also produces calzone and you can design your own pizza.

At lunchtimes there are lite bites/starters and Italian sandwiches served from 10am till 3pm. Main meals, again with an Italian theme, and pizzas are available from 6pm to 10pm and sometimes later.

There’s a good wine list and bottled beers and lagers, with great freshly made coffee. Live music is provided occasionally and there are themed evenings in the winter months that are very popular.

The terrace is styled like the deck of a boat, with two levels and glass screen beneath the curved railings; a real treat on summer evenings. Inside the sea views are equally good, with the table under the curved tower being the most popular for its outlook.

Huge mirrors accentuate the sense of space and there are comfortable black rattan chairs with green upholstery around the glass tables. The overall feel is Art Deco, but with a modern spin.
