Ryde Carnival is the oldest carnival in the UK, dating back to the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. Queen Victoria and her family attended the annual carnivals and were patrons of the event.
Ryde Carnival dates:
Saturday 27 August Children's Carnival Day 11 am to 3 pm
Held in different locations throughout the town centre
Bring a picnic and hang out with Shademakers animals, see Ryde's Carnival Royalty perform, magic shows, music and dance, costume competition, carnival crafts and more.
Thursday 1 September Main Procession
Setting off at 6.30 pm, the carnival winds its way through Ryde's streets and ends overlooking the sea on the Esplanade.
Saturday 3 September Illuminated Procession
Setting off at 8.30 pm, Ryde is lit up with a display of light and music parading through the town.
