Challenge the Wight is a unique charity trail running challenge (or walk if you prefer!) across the breadth of the Isle of Wight at night! You start at The Needles in the west on Sat 24th June 2017 and finish in Yaverland on the east coast around sunrise on Sun 25th. See our special ferry offer if coming from the mainland.

Challenge the Wight is an overnight challenge to traverse the 26 latitudinal miles between the eastern and western furthermost points on the Island.

If you'd like to take part you can treat it as a night-time cross country marathon or take on the challenge at a more leisurely pace. Runners and walkers alike set off shortly after sunset taking a defined course following many well established trails across the central spine of the Island's downlands.

Challenge the Wight is run by Isle of Wight youth charity, Challenge & Adventure and all proceeds go towards their invaluable work.

On foot - if you contact Challenge & Adventure in advance, they may be able to pick you up from either East or West Cowes ferry terminals. The Red Jet service has sailings between Southampton and West Cowes every 30 minutes on Saturdays during the day (hourly in the evenings and on Sundays). The crossing takes 23-25 minutes. Southern Vectis operate buses which will get you as far as Yarmouth (or Carisbrooke if doing the shorter route). Taxis are also available outside the East & West Cowes ferry terminals. For car hire, we recommend Enterprise - they will pick you-up from either terminal if you tell them your arrival time.
