Red Jet Service
Hi-speed Passenger Ferry
Our Red Jet Hi-Speed service is the fastest way for foot passengers to cross the Solent from Southampton to the Isle of Wight.
This fast catamaran is ideal for business and leisure trips to Cowes and the Isle of Wight, with crossing times from just 23-25 minutes. Regular departures sail from our West Cowes, Isle of Wight and T2, Southampton terminals throughout the day.
The Red Jet hi-speed service is currently operating a reduced timetable. View the latest timetable.
At this time, we are accepting CARD payments only, and encourage the use of contactless payment where possible. We are able to accept some cash payment at our automated ticket machines; however, please note that the machines are unable to accept £20 notes.
For customers wishing to travel to West Quay Shopping Centre or onto Southampton Central Train Station, there is a shuttle bus that operates from the ferry terminals on Town Quay.
This service usually operates every 30 minutes, and is FREE for Red Funnel customers, passengers with through rail or National Express coach tickets to/from East Cowes or West Cowes and holders of Senior Citizen bus passes.
We have 3 Red Jet fast catamarans deployed in the UK on our cross-Solent ferry route between Southampton & West Cowes. They are all powered by high-speed MTU diesel engines with waterjet propulsion. The vessels speed, manouverability, stopping power and low wash characteristics are all key design attributes for the route.
