on the Isle of Wight

Carisbrooke Castle

Walk the ramparts, dress up your dog in period clothing and see the donkeys on the water mill – Deku loves it all. While dogs aren’t allowed inside the castle, there’s plenty to do within the grounds and lots of great walks through the country from the castle.

Appuldurcombe House

A dog-friendly slice of Island history, take a walk in the elegant gardens and explore the ruins of this once grand house. It’s a great place for a picnic, with trails from the house connecting you with Godshill, Wroxall and Ventnor.

Godshill Model Village

Here your pooch can live our their “Dogzilla” fantasies, sniffing between the mini-Island towns and villages – a great place for photos! Deku is fascinated by the train set.

Farringford Estate & Gardens

Once home to famous poet Lord Tennyson, Farringford offers large beautifully kept gardens, woodland walks and pasture land to explore with you dog. It’s a great day out for both you and your doggo. While dogs can’t go on tours of the house, they are welcome at the visitor centre – Deku loved taking his toy cow to meet the cows!

Fort Victoria

Deku loves it here, playing on the little beach and walking around the top of the fort – he feels king of the castle! There’s a nice dog-friend café on site, great photo opportunities with the cannons and a nice woodland walk.

Quarr Abbey

There’s lots to sniff on the woodland walk and in the gardens, Deku loves to watch the resident pigs! The tearoom gardens are spacious and relaxed for dogs, and there are nice surrounding walks to Fishbourne and Binstead beaches.

Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary

One of Deku’s favourite places to visit because the staff all love dogs… and so do the donkeys! There’s lot of outdoor space, the café has dog towels to dry muddy paws, lot of treats and if you wag your tail nicely, Pupcups!

Ventnor Botanic Gardens

Both the gardens and the café are dog friendly, so it’s a lovely place to explore together. The gardens are very pretty, a great place to take photos. Look out for lizards!

Please keep your dog on a lead when visiting all of these places.
