Dog Friendly Places to Stay

Dog-Friendly Places to Stay

It’s almost a case of ‘where can’t you take your dog?’ when booking a stay on the Isle of Wight, with many hotels, B&Bs, campsites and holiday cottages welcoming both you and your four-legged friends. Not sure where to start? Here’s a few recommendations to put you in the know.

Dog Friendly Places to Stay

Kingates Farm, Niton

Escape to the country at Kingates Farm, where their dog-friendly stone Farm Cottage sleeps up to four people, or opt for one of two converted stable cottages sleeping two adults each. Situated in the quiet village of Niton, the farm is surrounded by rolling countryside and is just a stone’s throw from the coast - perfect for long walks and pitstops with your pooch at the great traditional pubs and inns nearby.

Kingates Farm offers a luxury rural experience for you, your loved ones and your dog, with enclosed dog-friendly gardens, private use of an indoor pool and steam room, and hot tubs - as well as two-acre private walking paddocks and direct access to bridleways and footpaths in an area of outstanding natural beauty. (Please note the Farm Cottage is over 18’s only from 2024).

Luccombe Manor

Luccombe Manor, Shanklin

Proudly dog-friendly, Luccombe Manor is a seaside haven for owners and dogs alike. Perched on a clifftop overlooking the sandy shores of Shanklin, Luccombe Manor offers an abundance of pet owner perks inside and out. Why not hit the beach for endless sea swims and digging on the beach (subject to season), take a stroll in the neighbouring Rylstone Gardens or head further afield on the cliff path towards Ventnor or Sandown.

The hotel is kitted out with dog beds and blankets in all rooms, along with towels for muddy paws in the restaurant, a doggy shop for essentials, a pet owner welcome pack, a feeding area, wash areas… and more! A hotel run by dog lovers for dog lovers, the “pawfect” retreat.

Do be careful not to confuse Luccombe Manor with its sister hotel, Luccombe Hall, where dogs are not permitted.

Dog Friendly Places to Stay

Farringford Cottages, Freshwater

Get lost in the beauty and history of Farringford Estate, once home to Victorian Poet Laureate, Alfred, Lord Tennyson. You’ll find Farringford situated beneath the sprawling Tennyson downs and monument, a very popular spot with walkers. Over fifty percent of the Isle of Wight is classed as an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) with Farringford’s self-catering cottages nestled at the heart it.

Cottages sleep between two and eight people, each offering cosy rustic comfort for both you and your pet. Step out of your cottage onto miles of trails across Tennyson Downs, and onwards the coloured cliffs of Alum Bay, the iconic Needles landmark and beyond. Nearby beaches include Compton, Brook and Fort Victoria which are dog friendly year-round, with lots of local pubs, restaurants and cafes welcoming owners and pets in the west wight.

Nettlecombe

Nettlecombe Farm, Ventnor

Nettlecombe Farm is an award-winning dog-friendly destination, offering nine dog-friendly cottages in a stunning rural location. With cottages sleeping from 3 to 10 people, Nettlecombe is an ideal for romantic retreats and family get-togethers. Each unique self-catering cottage offers breath-taking views, surrounded by fishing lakes, extensive greenery, and a family-run working farm, all situated in the charming village of Whitwell.

Set against a backdrop of rolling countryside, there are endless opportunities for dog walking, cycling, and adventure right outside your door. Take your dog to meet the farm's other four-legged friends, indulge in fishing, or relax and feel invigorated with a yoga or Pilates class.

Grange Farm

Grange Farm, Brighstone

A family and dog-friendly campsite, you’ll feel at home among the Island’s wildlife on this family-run farm right by the sea. As well as welcoming dogs, the site is home to alpacas, pigs, goats, a pony, a horse, water buffalo, a donkey, poultry, and small furries -  an animal lover’s paradise!

The modern family holiday park allows visitors to bring tents, caravans, campervans or motorhomes – or you could try one of the farm’s own camping pods or holiday cottages. Wake up to the sound of the waves and enjoy a dog-friendly beach walk, or head out and explore the beautiful landscape surrounding the 60-acre site with your best friend by your side. The campsite offers Wi-Fi, an on-site shop, electric hookups, toilets, and showers, and is in an ideal beachside location, with local family-friendly pubs, fishing lakes, and water sports experiences to discover.
