Universal Credit Assisted Fares Scheme
Red Funnel's Universal Credit Assisted Fares Scheme offers Isle of Wight residents who are receiving Universal Credit to travel with a car for a maximum fixed price of £59.10 return (or 20% off our lowest standard web fares if cheaper). A fixed fare of £12.30 return is also available for travel as a foot passenger between East Cowes and Southampton.
To join the scheme, you must have a My Red Funnel account in your own name and current Isle of Wight address before you can apply.
To apply: Please complete the form below with your full name, full address including postcode, contact number, email address and BKC number. You will also need to supply proof that you have been in receipt of Universal Credit in the last 30 days, to include your full name and current corresponding Isle of Wight address. You can find this by requesting a proof letter, here.
Once validated, you will receive an email from us with details of how to book at the reduced rates - please allow 7 working days.
Scheme Terms & Conditions
The Assisted Fares Scheme (AFS) is available to Isle of Wight residents who have provided supporting documentation of their eligibility for Universal Credit. You will continue to qualify for the reduced rate for 6 months. After this time, if you are still receiving Universal Credit, you’ll need to re-apply, using this same process.
The fares apply to new bookings commencing from East Cowes only made online by the eligible person using their designated My Red Funnel account. The eligible person must travel in the booked vehicle, and they must show photo ID to check-in staff. Failure to do so will require payment of the fare difference between the AFS fare and the standard on the day fare which applies to that sailing. Standard amendment and cancellation rules and standard terms and conditions of travel apply. Not valid with any other Red Funnel offer or concession.
