Seaview

A handful of popular restaurants and cafes wind their way up the High Street to the main Madeira Road, including The Old Fort on the seafront and The Seaview Hotel that offers pub grub in the historic bars or fine dining in the restaurant. Stay here and your kids could sleep in the vault of their converted former Midland bank next door.

Seaview has an art gallery, a pharmacy, deli sandwich bar, café restaurants, and seaside inspired fashion and gift shops. The famous Seaview Yacht club welcomes members of any yacht club and you can hire one of their pretty Mermaid dinghies. Every August Seaview Regatta is a truly eccentric English event that attracts a crowd with rowing, diving, running, swimming, tug-of-war and the famous walking of the greasy pole.

Made popular in Edwardian times, Seaview has a rocky beach but clear waters popular for swimming and slipways for boat launching and diving. Walk eastwards to Seagrove Bay for a sandy beach and round the headland to Priory Bay Hotel’s private beach, accessible via public footpath at low tide and available to patrons. Walk on through the woodland pathway to St Helen’s Beach and Bembridge Harbour.
