Half way between Newport and Cowes, with far reaching views across the Medina river valley, The Stag Inn has had a modern makeover and now has something for everyone. Sports are the focus in the lounge bar when there’s a game on, or you can eat in the garden room conservatory.
Outside are tables in the garden or on the small balcony area, some of which is covered, and there’s a children’s climbing house in the playground. Upstairs are four ensuite B&B rooms and breakfast is served all day.
The menu has Stag Favourites and Stag Grills, there are specials on the board daily and on Sundays there’s a carvery. Ales on tap are Sharps Doom Bar and Atlantic, Greene King IPA, Worthington bitter, Carling and Grolsch lagers, Guinness and Strongbow original and Dark Fruit ciders. Plus there’s a wine list for diners.
A 92 inch projector screen that shows BT and Sky Sports rolls down over one of the windows in the lounge area for serious sport lovers. With more than a hint of stag themed accessories such as cushions and antler coat hooks, this room has a warm red, gold and cream theme with leather and upholstered seating.
The bar area has a couple of tables with comfy seating and you walk through here to the conservatory, which has a garden theme with old garden machinery and plant pots. The views from here are across open countryside on each side of the river Medina.
