With possibly the largest menu of all the Island pubs, the Old Village Inn Steak and Ale House in Bembridge covers all bases from good old fashioned pies, through all the pub classics to an extensive list of curries. Food is served all day, every day, and you really are spoilt for choice.

In the heart of Bembridge High Street, this traditional styled building is reputed to have been serving pints since 1787. Landlord Jay Chapman sources real ales from around the country to ensure there are always four on the pump and an ever-changing selection: Abbott Ale, Backyard Navvy, Butcombe and Windswept bitters on the day we visited.

Extra cold Carlsberg, Fosters, Amstel and Kronenburg 1664 are also on pump along with Somersby Cider and Guinness. Plus there’s a long list of bottled and craft beers in the traditional bar area to the right as you enter the pub and prices of every drink are displayed. Here there is also a dart board and TV for sport.

Blackboards around the bar advertise the Grills, specials of the day, a wide range of curries and a good list of deserts, plus there’s a long menu of every other dish you might like to try.

Exposed brickwork fireplaces house real fires in the winter, canvasses of Bembridge in ‘days of yore’ adorn the walls and there’s a small partly covered patio area to the rear. On Friday and Saturday night there is live music and Monday night is quiz night.
