Esso Marine Terminal
All but the world's largest ships carrying crude oil from places like the North Sea and Middle East, dock here and discharge their oil into storage tanks ashore before processing begins.
The marine terminal is 1 mile long and handles 2,000 ship movements and 22m tonnes of crude oil and related products each year. Liquid petroleum gas (L.P.G.) is unloaded at the Northernmost end. Excess gases from the L.P.G. are "flared off" at the extreme end of the jetty.
