Catering Assistant

Southampton-based | Full time | Permanent, Fixed or Seasonal | £20,748 per annum

About the Role:

Cleaning Operative

Full Time | Permanent | £9.50ph

We are currently looking for two Cleaning Operatives to join the facilities team over the summer here at Red Funnel. This is a fixed term role finishing October 31st 2022, working on the Ferries but with potential to be in any of our Terminal locations too.

Working as part of the team you will be tasked with maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness: your role is primarily to keep locations looking in tip top condition. You will have an eye for detail, can-do attitude and be used to working in public locations where customer interaction is inevitable. Above all your positive attitude will shine through.

In brief duties include but are not limited to:
  • General cleaning
  • Vacuuming
  • Washing & polishing surfaces
  • Toilet cleaning & emptying public area bins
This role will primarily work on a rotating shift pattern of two days on, two days off, covering all seven days of the week. The role may include late finishes and early starts and has an element of lone working. For training purposes the initial shift patterns will be based out of Southampton.

Service Assistant in Terminals

Various hours | Fixed Term | £9.50ph

We are currently looking for Full time and Part time fixed term Services Assistants working 21 - 36 hours a week to join our shoreside Passenger Operations team, where no two days are the same.

You'll be working in a unique and busy fast paced environment with an excellent opportunity to show your creativity and passion in delivering superb customer service.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the food and beverage offer within our terminal areas and ensuring first class service delivery. You’ll need excellent face-to-face communication and customer service skills gained through significant experience within a ‘front-line’ customer orientated environment.

A hands on, proactive approach will be key to achieving the company/ department objectives. Successful applicants will also need to possess excellent team player skills.

Hours are worked on a rostered shift system operating over 36 hours, 7 days a week, including bank holidays, and will vary between early starts and late finishes.

Customer Advisor in the Contact Centre

Various hours | Fixed Term | £9.50ph

We are looking for Contact Centre agents on a fixed term basis until August 2022 working 8-24 hours per week, this role will be based temporarily remote until a move back to the office is safe.
As a Contact Centre Agent, you will be the first person that our customers talk to, so it is vital that you make a positive and lasting impression whether on the phones or via email. As a Contact Centre Agent your knowledge of our products and services are key, engaging with our customers by giving them compelling reasons to choose Red Funnel.

You will be working as part of a fast-paced and supportive team. Full training from our experienced colleagues will be provided.

Hours will be on a rolling rotation and will require applicants to have flexibility to include shifts at weekends and evenings, additional hours available subject to business needs.

Stores Operative

32 Hours / Full time / Permanent / 15,808 annual salary

Warehouse/Stores team are on the lookout for an Operative to join them in a permanent capacity, on a 32 hour a week contract based on 5 of 7 days. In this role, you will be working in the heart of our business, supporting teams across all functions to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

You will be the type of person who enjoys working in a vibrant, energetic environment with the ability to manage your own time effectively. You will get to engage with stakeholders throughout the business through the receiving, storing and distributing of goods that come into the operation.

The role requires someone who enjoys working in an intensive manual handling environment, as carrying and moving stock is a key part of the role. Deadlines can be tight so working quickly with precision and attention to detail is important, especially during stock takes and auditing periods.

Engineer Officer

41 Hours / Full Time / Permanent / 38,333 annual salary

We are currently recruiting for an Engineer Officer on a full time basis.

You’ll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary machinery, together with all technical on-board systems. Other duties will include the maintenance of galley and passenger services equipment, fabric maintenance of machinery spaces and receipt of fuel oil and lubricating oil bunkers. In addition, you’ll be expected to assist the deck crew with the operation of the hydraulic equipment associated with loading practices.

You will on occasion be required to relieve Chief Engineers when they are on leave.

You will need a minimum of an STCW95 EOOW certificate with recent seagoing experience, and should have a good working knowledge of the maintenance requirements of medium speed diesels and their associated electro-hydraulic systems, as well as a working knowledge of computer systems.

You must also be able diagnose and rectify faults in a wide range of machinery, including propulsion systems. Good communication skills are paramount as are excellent written and verbal skills.

Hours are based on a 41 per week, working on a rostered shift system covering a 22-hour operation, over 7 days a week. Accommodation isn’t available on-board so it’s key that you reside a commutable distance from our Southampton terminals.

HR Administrator

40 hours / Full time / Permanent / 22,900 annual salary

We have an exciting opportunity for a HR Administrator to join us on a permanent basis.  Supported by friendly and dedicated colleagues in our small, busy HR team, we are looking for a candidate who has experience in administration and would like to put that into practice in a HR environment.  In addition to being a strong administrator, you will need to be extremely organised with attention to detail, be competent in Microsoft Office and be able to work cohesively as part of a team.  You will also possess an empathetic and personable demeanour.  As the HR function handles a wide range of sensitive information, the right candidate must demonstrate a confidential and professional approach at all times.

The role will encompass both HR and Learning & Development and be split between the Marine and Shoreside business areas.  The role is varied and includes such tasks as the recording of certification and training records; issue of joining instructions; e-learning platform administration; generation and tracking of purchase orders; creation of employment contracts; recruitment administration; employment references; travel pass creation and handling employee queries.

Applications are welcome from candidates who have previously worked in HR or Learning & Development, but this is not essential and equivalent experience will be considered.  The successful candidate will work 40 hours a week Monday to Friday split between our Bugle Street office and working remotely.

Resource Planner

40 hours / Full Time / Permanent / 29,556 annual salary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Resource planner to join us on a full time, permanent basis. This role is ideally suited to someone who interested in developing their career within our Resource department.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone who loves variation, and is an excellent communicator, demonstrates a positive proactive attitude, with experience in the creation of rosters and shift pattern management, in high-volume/high frequency operations, budget management and have a good business acumen.

Your role will encompass areas such as rostering, HR and training administration, planning and co ordinating to name a few. This will suit you down to the ground as you will be organised and logical in your approach and like to keep lots of plates spinning rather than focus on one thing at a time.

This role can be both proactive and reactive, but you’ll be calm in pressured situations (such as a last-minute change to rota’s) and able to problem solve. It’s also imperative that you have an advanced understanding of Microsoft excel as this will be pivotal to your workload. You will have support in the department in order to deliver on your objectives and will have the opportunity to get involved in a range of varied and interesting tasks.
