Sculpture may be erected in Isle of Wight

Visitors to the Isle of Wight may soon see a new feature if they are driving along Coppins Bridge in Newport.

Isle of Wight-based artist Glenn Martin has designed a sculpture in the shape of a dragon and hopes to erect it at the centre of Coppins Bridge.

The sculpture has been made by local students and stands at 4.5 metres tall and three metres wide, the Isle of Wight County Press reports.

As a result, it could prove to be an eye-catching attraction for passing motorists in the Coppins Bridge area.

Mr Martin is hoping that he can secure planning permission to erect the artwork for six months.

It would then be removed and exhibited at various carnivals across the Isle of Wight, before being permanently housed at the Dinosaur Isle museum in Sandown.

Youngsters are already being encouraged to head to this particular attraction at Easter by the Isle of Wight Council, as it is hosting a Dressing up as Dinosaurs Day on Friday April 2nd.
