Come Into The Tea House

The Tea House in Ventnor is where the quintessentially British meets London industrial vintage style. From pristine ancient china sets to scaffolding molded tables, The Tea House are redefining the classic English tea time.

In the early sun-kissed evening of Saturday 23rd July, The Tea house opened its doors for their official launch party. The event was a taster for future events in-store for this bright vintage café, and did not disappoint. Prosecco, cake, vinyl records and live music from The Ventnor Darlings that got everyone singing, it was a sophisticated affair for the entire family with faces from across the Island and further a field.

The Tea House have a range of exquisite loose leaf teas from Teapigs, coffee from Island Roasted, home baked cakes and an ever-changing lunchtime menu. Teas and coffees made in the café are accompanied by Briddlesford Farmed milk and many foods on the menu are sourced from other Island run business’s such as the delicious Ventnor Bay Crab for their rustic open sandwiches.

Founder and owner, Khia Janzen, believes that it is very important to support local business and for this reason has began stocking delicious salad dressings from Wild Island, the Island soft and blue cheese from Isle of Wight Cheese Co and will be selling Island Roasted coffee in store.

The Tea House will continue to extend their list of Island sourced produce.

The interior of the café boasts artistic flare, one of The Tea House’s key features has to be the giant illustration of a rose by local designer Katy-Rose Thorogood. The mismatching furniture makes for a chic overall presentation; hanging wartime tin cabinet, old knick-knacks, vintage flower bottles suspended in midair and the all important record player. All this and an in-house piano, free for all to rekindle their childhood love of chopsticks.

The Tea House rests on top of The Events Co and Katy-Rose Design’s offices. The Events Co operate from below the floorboards planning weddings and all manner of events from music to charity. Alongside this Katy-Rose Thorogood can be found working on illustration commissions.

There aren’t many tea houses that can serve you beautiful tea infusions, homemade cake and plan your wedding right down from the band to the invitations.

This is no ordinary tea house; this is a hive of creative minds fuelling their own careers in their beloved home towns.
