Cocktail Roundup - perfect for sundowners!

As the sun is finally out it’s time to take to the coast and grab a cocktail and sit back, sipping away until the sun goes down. So, we’ve pulled together our top 5 hot spots for cocktail hour across the Island. Enjoy.

The Hut, Colwell Bay

One of the best spots to sit, enjoy the sun, and watch the sun go down is The Hut in Colwell Bay. Boasting an enticing menu of nine cocktails, choose from classics like The Hut’s Rum Punch, to the more unusual Lavender & Lychee Collins or the tempting sounding Thank You Cherry Much – made with Disarrano Amaretto, Havana Especial, Orgeat, Pineapple Juice – cheers!

Gastronomy Cowes

New kids on the block Gastronomy Cowes are definitely one to try for their innovative cocktails, from Moroccan Mint Iced Tea and Chilli Watermelon Margarita, to their Candyfloss Fizz which is always a real talking point. The candyfloss is piled high in the glass and then the prosecco is poured over the top in front of the customers at the table. An edible flower is hidden beneath the candyfloss and rises to the top as the candyfloss dissolves – if you haven’t guzzled it already by then! Don’t miss their stunning Viola Passion - tastes as good as it looks!

Smoking Lobster, Ventnor

Situated right on the front in Ventnor, the Smoking Lobster has a new cocktail menu reflecting their signature Asian inspired flavours. Choose from Kaffir Lime and Lemongrass Mojito, Pomegranate Margarita, Rhubarb Shrub Bellini and already a customer favourite, the Lavender Collins.

No.64 Shanklin

For something a bit fun, over at No.64 Shanklin they’ve created "The Houdini" Candy-floss cocktail.Or you can go for a Pornstar Martini – always a favourite and their Caramel Saltini is not to be missed, made with a combination of coffee, chocolate and salted caramel liqueurs, chocolate bitters, with a dusting of chocolate!

Isle of Wight Distillery

The clever guys over at Isle of Wight Distillery have their first Cocktail Making Masterclass at the Mermaid Bar on Wednesday 2nd May at 7.30pm. Priced at £25, this includes a Gin & Tonic on arrival, learn to create two cocktails and a competition with a chance to win a bottle of Mermaid Gin. Booking advised to avoid disappointment as there are limited spaces available. Gin gin!
