Are you looking for a chic boutique bed and breakfast stay on the Isle of Wight in an town centre location? Then look no further than our guide to urban B&B's...

One of the newest boutique B&Bs in Newport, and yet in one of the oldest buildings, One Hollyrood is in a Grade II listed building that has been renovated to offer six en-suite rooms. The attractive ground floor area has a breakfast room overlooking the pretty south-facing garden. Formerly the building was an art gallery and framers and has attractive and affordable local art on display and for sale. It's only a short walk from the Quay Arts where you can see more art, hear live music, attend the theatre or just take lunch overlooking the river.

Braunstone House Hotel in Lugley Street, Newport, is small enough to count as a boutique B&B and the rooms have lovely 19th century features such as wood panelling and sash windows that are complemented by antique furnishings. The building also houses Lugley's restaurant, which is a popular upmarket foodie destination for locals and visitors alike. To the rear of the property is a pretty walled garden with tables for eating outside in the warmer months.

Unique, opulent and luxurious describe Casati House where there are three 'suites' on offer to guests in this black and white town house in Ryde. Expect chandeliers, velvet, fur and feathers and lots of fabulousness. The French Quarter has its own balcony overlooking the sea, rich red soft furnishings and your own dressing room and is favoured by newlyweds, the Casati Suite is “Dripping in gothic spendour” and the Marchesa twin room looks out over the pretty walled garden with its fountain and statues. Downstairs the lounges are as decadent as the bedrooms, with a grand piano in the lounge and there's a proper old fashioned conservatory on the way through to the garden.
