For 11 days from 14-24 July 2017, Isle of Wight artists and crafts-people open their studios, homes or exhibit in public venues. Visitors have the opportunity to meet local artists, see their amazing work and find out more about the techniques they use and the passions which inspire them.
Open Studios is a free event sponsored by Red Funnel which offers visitors the chance to view and purchase a great range of work including paintings, sculptures, print-making, photography, textiles, jewellery and ceremics.
The studios are as varied as they come; artist's homes, work rooms or gardens, or purpose made studios, some in public venues. The beauty of visiting several studios is that each is unique, with its own charm - you're sure to have a warm welcome and to come away feeling inspired. Each venue will be open from 10am to 5pm each day.
When you see the red Open Studios flags, you know you've arrived!
Visitors are welcome to browse the work on offer by the artists but if you do fall in love with a piece of work, do talk to the artist about taking it home with you straight away or if it is only available at the end of the show.
Getting to the Isle of Wight Open Studios is easy from Southampton
The studio locations for 2017 will be announced in June.
On foot - you can travel to East Cowes (55-60 minutes) or West Cowes (23-25 minutes) as a foot passenger. Southern Vectis operate frequent buses to all parts of the Island. Service 1 connects Cowes with Newport (network hub) whilst service 4 & 5 connects East Cowes with Ryde and Newport. Taxis are also available for hire from both terminals. For car hire we recommend Enterprise - they will pick you up if you tell them your arrival time when booking.
By vehicle - catch Red Funnel's hourly service to East Cowes which has good road links to all parts of the Island.
