A celebration of all things powered by steam happens every August at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway on the Isle of Wight and this year the 43rd Island Steam Show is taking to the rails from Friday 25th to Monday 28th August 2017 at the Havenstreet Station site.

Around the Show, climb aboard the traditional fairground rides, marvel at the fascinating working steam demonstrations, relish the sight of beautifully maintained traction engines, vintage cars, motorcycles and old wagons, or simply settle back for a steam train ride through the Island's unspoilt countryside.

Stunning shows in the main arena will make you gasp and cheer with Motorbike Stunts from "On The Edge" motorcycle stunt Show and there will be death defying tightrope walking from "Bernie Bennett".

Resident falconers at the station, Haven Falconry, will be bringing a range of their magnificent menagerie of owls, hawks, falcons and other birds of prey. You'll be thrilled by the hands-on shows from these beautiful hunters and watch out for their very special finale. Haven Falconry also allow visitors to be photographed with their birds upon a gauntlet covered arm and it's wonderful to be able to hold, touch and feel the power of these top end predators in a close up one-to-one scenario.

In the 'Comedy & Entertainment' arena Mr Alexander's Travelling Show returns. Appealing to young and old, Mr Alexander has an astounding repertoire of captivating magic, juggling, uni-cycling, balance and illusion. Plus there are humorous tales, comedy and oddball skills with Greg Chapman's Condensed Histories. On the Woodland Stage there's a terrific line-up of live bands and music to enjoy each day.

To complete your day out, meet the Blackfoot Lodge in their Red Indian (Native American) encampment, browse around the fascinating stalls, pick up a bargain from the country crafts, cool down with an ice cream or a glass of your favourite tipple from the Real Ale bar, and enjoy a good variety of refreshments.

The Island Steam Show will make your August Bank Holiday a weekend to remember!
