All aboard for Red Funnel Night Rider & Night Runner Events
06-04-2016 There’s still time to enter the Red Funnel Night Runner trail and Night Rider mountain bike charity events on the 16th April 2016 at the picturesque Cheveton Farm on the Isle of Wight.
Organised by G.P Sport, all proceeds will go to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust; the Isle of Wight based charity which takes young cancer sufferers sailing in the Solent.
Both the Night Rider mountain biking and Night Runner trail running events start at sunset and are open to all ages with courses to suit every ability. People taking part can run or ride through the night, choosing from 5km–20km distances for runners, and 5km–35km for the mountain bikers. Equipped with a basic map and stamp card, participants will navigate their way from checkpoint to checkpoint, collecting stamps as they go.
The entry cost is £10.00 pp for the 5km distance and £15.00 pp for the 10-15km distances. Red Funnel is offering a 15% ferry discount to all mainland participants travelling with a vehicle between 14-19 April. There is also ample free car parking available on site and a free wild-camping area for those wishing to stay the night.
Radio 1 DJ and Bestival curator, Rob da Bank kicks off the entertainment at the start of the race and afterwards, participants can swap stories of their moonlight adventures in the event village. Food and drinks will be available and a late night after-party featuring live DJ’s.
Kevin George, Red Funnel’s CEO said, “We have experienced at first-hand how the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust has lifted the spirits of young cancer sufferers and we were only too pleased to extend our long-term support by sponsoring these fundraising events. Hopefully as many people as possible will enter alongside our Red Funnel team in what promises to be a fun, action packed evening.”
Frank Fletcher CEO of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust commented‘The Red Funnel Night Rider and Night Runner has only been made possible by the support of title partner and long term supporter of the Trust, Red Funnel. Red Funnel’s support means that all the entry fees will help us directly support young people in recovery from cancer and help rebuild their confidence. It will be a challenging endurance event with a fun twist, with a distance for every ability.”
