RYS Marine Careers Fair 2017
Last month we joined around 40 other companies at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes to support their annual Marine Careers Fair, attracting many young people and aspiring mariners to learn more about the potential careers paths available in the marine industry.
Aptly named, the “Oceans of Opportunities on Land & Sea”, the fair was packed full of organisations who bought a range of stands and merchandise, each engaging visitors with potential career opportunities at sea.
Before the fair began, HRH Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex, spent time engaging with the different exhibitors and learning more about their businesses and the opportunities they can provide talented candidates. Prince Edward had a great chat with Matthew Parker, our Hi-Speed Marine Environmental Health & Safety Officer, and Nicole Williams, one of our recent Trainee Deck Hands who is currently carrying out an apprenticeship. Nicole joined Red Funnel initially on board our boats as a Catering Services Assistant, and is very excited to develop her career in a marine discipline.
After lunch, students and other delegates came to the event and we met many individuals who showed a keen interest in the roles we have, as well as evidencing the research and passion they have in developing a career at sea. It was really encouraging for us to meet so many people who want to learn more about the industry, and who are putting a lot of thought into their long-term job prospects.
We are already excited to attend next year’s event, and if you want any more information on our current vacancies then please click here.
We look forward to seeing you there next time!
