Through-fares to and from Hythe
Red Funnel Ferries and Hythe Ferry have published an integrated timetable and through-tickets from East & West Cowes to Hythe, The Waterside and the New Forest.
The average journey time from West Cowes to Hythe Pier is just 58 minutes, changing at Terminal 2 on Southampton’s Town Quay. There are 23 connecting services per day Monday-Friday, 26 on Saturdays and 9 on Sundays and Public Holidays so there is plenty of choice for leisure travellers.
Travelling to Hythe by ferry is a great way to see cruise ships in the Port and visitors get to travel on the oldest Pier train in the World, the Pier itself dates back to 1881. Hythe, just as stone’s throw from the New Forest, has an amazing aeronautical and maritime history and is well worth exploring. Unspoilt by time, famous residents include Lawrence of Arabia and Sir Christopher Cockerell, inventor of the hovercraft. There is a popular outdoor market every Tuesday and the attractive waterfront and marina have plenty of shops, pubs and eateries.
To explore the New Forest and its many attractions, there is a new bus service for visitors which operates between Hythe - East Lepe Country Park - Exbury Gardens - Beaulieu (Motor Museum & Palace) - Bucklers Hard and Lymington. Called the ‘Beach Bus’ it runs through the summer.
