Winter Bird Walk taking place in March

Fans of outdoor pursuits and learning more about nature might like to take the opportunity to join a group of avian aficionados as they take part in the annual Winter Bird Walk on the Isle of Wight in March.

Set to take place on the 3rd of the month, the event is organised by the National Trust and will be free to head along to.

A treat for all the family, guests will get the chance to get a closer look at the many species of birds that are wintering on the island at this time of year, both resident varieties and migrants.

Running from 10:00 until 12:30 GMT and starting at the National Trust visitor point car park opposite Newtown Old Town Hall, visitors are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and to wrap up warm, as they will be taken on a tour of some of the most picturesque spots on the island.

It is sure to be a fun-packed outing for all the family, with an array of rare birds nesting on the island at this time of year.

Meanwhile, those wishing to enjoy a winter-themed getaway, but in the comfort of the great indoors, might like to check out the The Depozitory at Quay Arts that will be holding a number of workshops for visitors over the coming weeks.

Kicking off on February 9th and providing fun activities for all the family, the events will include a street dance camp with organiser Lyndsey Byrne aimed at kids aged from 13 to 18, as well as toy making with artist Tim Johnson.

Parents hoping to enjoy time with their children during the February half-term can also head along to a workshop on the history of the woven willow heart on Valentine's Day that will be headed by Mr Johnson also.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801532736-ADNFCR
