Television star heading to Isle of Wight

It appears the Isle of Wight could be the best place to head to for holidaymakers keen to work on their sailing skills, following the decision of one television star.

Henry Gatehouse, who featured in the Channel 4 series Jamie's Dream School, is heading to the island to receive training to become a watersports instructor at Cowes sailing academy UKSA, the Isle of Wight County Press reports.

As part of his 16-week course, the 17-year-old will get the opportunity to sail with Dame Ellen MacArthur, the UKSA ambassador who shot to fame when she sailed around the world singlehandedly.

Mr Gatehouse said: "After [Jamie's] Dream School, I wanted to leave London and start afresh by the sea. I'm looking forward to learning to become a dinghy, kayak, windsurf and powerboat instructor."

Simon Davies, director of youth development at UKSA, noted the programme will enable young people such as Mr Gatehouse to achieve success in the field later in life.
