Special Isle of Wight walk set to take place this month

The Isle of Wight attracts plenty of people during the summer months, and not just for the massive music festival it hosts every year.

Its idyllic setting is a major lure for people of all ages, from music lovers to those wanting a relaxing weekend away, the island offers a lot for everyone.

Many holidaymakers come to take advantage of the scenery and good weather and anyone making a trip this month will be able to embark on the Woodlands Walks, a new event devised by island landscape and wildlife experts Natural Enterprise and Barratt Homes.

A series of guided woodland walks is planned throughout the summer for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy. The comfortable walking route goes through the ten-hectare Country Park, where guides will give information on all sorts of areas, such as of edible planting.

There's also the opportunity to use the "bug hoover" in order to meet the country park's smallest inhabitants - fortunately you won't have to meet any should you decide not to.

Of course, there's always the chance of some rain, but the organisers have it all covered, with the inclusion of a hub to retreat to, which is filled with tea, juice and plenty of biscuits. In the hub, which can be visited after the walk, there will be an arts and crafts session.

If cycling is more your thing then you're in luck, as the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival is also taking place this summer and is the perfect way to take in the sights.

It runs from September 21st to 29th covering a 70-mile round route of the island, and entrants are all raising funds for a range of good causes.

However, you don't have to be in an event to enjoy cycling on the island as you can rent a bike and head off on your own adventure on the island, either on your own, with friends or even the whole family. Anyone catching a ferry to the Isle of Wight can of course bring their own bike with them.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801599953-ADNFCR
