See Guy Masterson's Animal Farm at Quay Arts

For fans of the great author George Orwell, seeing Guy Masterson's solo interpretation of his novel Animal Farm is a must.

Those who have not yet read the book will have surely heard the story - in a dystopian world, a group of animals join together to overthrow the humans - referred to as "parasites" - running the farm they live on.

Following a successful rebellion, the animals take over the farmhouse, with Napoleon the pig as its leader. After winning a battle against a neighbouring farmer and purging the site of all unwanted creatures, slowly but surely the remaining animals begin to resemble humans themselves.

Guy Masterson's unique production has been touring since the mid-90s, and sees him using nothing but a wooden box to convey every last arresting detail of the plot.

The occasional light or sound effect might interrupt his storytelling for dramatic purposes, but the artist largely relies on his own talents to provide an unforgettable performance.

He adopts a different voice for each character, mastering their personalities perfectly and guiding audiences through the narrative in a dynamic way - at no point are you distracted by the fact it is just one man acting all parts.

If Masterson's act sounds like something you'd be interested in, then don't miss the chance to see him perform on the Isle of Wight on November 23rd.

He is taking to the stage at Quay Arts, with doors opening at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets cost £14, or £13 for concessions.

The show is family-friendly, so feel free to bring the kids along and introduce them to one of the most important literary works of the 20th century in an engaging setting.

Masterson's edition of Animal Farm was first put on in 1995 at the Traverse Theatre, and since then he has taken it all over the world, performing in countries including Hong Kong, France, Holland, Ireland, Trinidad, Macedonia and Greece.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801647661-ADNFCR
