Miles Davis art comes to Isle of Wight

Fans of Miles Davis may wish to book Isle of Wight holidays for this summer, because the island is playing host to an exhibition of the star's art.

The jazz musician - who died in 1991 - created paintings, prints and drawings as well as his music and they will be showcased on the Isle of Wight from today (July 16th 2010).

Dimbola Galleries and Photographic Museum will host the exhibition, which is titled The Art of Miles Davis, until October 17th 2010, reports Cowes Online.

Not only will tourists on Isle of Wight holidays be able to check out art created by one of the 20th century's biggest stars, they will also be able to examine a sculpture of Davis by Guy Portelli.

The British artist's sculpture of Jimi Hendrix will also be on display during the exhibition - Davis and Hendrix both performed on the Isle of Wight in 1970.

This summer, Dimbola is also hosting an exhibition of photographs from the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival by Chris Weston.
