March music on the Isle

March music on the Isle

The Isle of Wight rightfully has an excellent reputation when it comes to music, thanks partially to its internationally renowned eponymous festival. But at any given time of the year, there is always an excellent selection of events going down, and March is no exception. Let's take a look at what music fans can look forward to on the island next month.

Festival Fringe

A free event that aims to showcase smaller acts than its much-adored Isle of Wight Festival cousin, this show promises intimate performances all evening on March 13th. Dominated by UK acts, bands from Southampton, Cornwall and Falmouth feature, not to mention the isle itself.

Acoustic Isle Festival

The inaugural Acoustic Isle festival gets started on March 13th and promises to showcase a range of exciting acts from across the world. Hundreds of musicians will attend, with live gigs taking place across a plethora of island pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.

The MoonShiners

Those with a taste for Rhythm & Blues will not want to miss local wonders The MoonShiners, who are known for fusing together influences from the Chicago blues of Muddy Waters with those of Bob Dylan & The Band. A must-see if you admire those four-note moody songs about smoky rooms and corner street societies. It's happening March 15th at the Crab and Lobster Tap.

Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra

The Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra will once again take to the stage amid much applause and acclaim to perform a selection of classical hits at the Medina Theatre on March 22nd. Tickets are on sale, with the programme featuring Haydn's cello concerto in D, Ginastera's ballet from Estancia and Symphony No.5 in D minor by Shostakovic.

This is merely a selection of what the island has on offer this March, and there are plenty of other events to attend, including open mic nights and concerts by local singers. Book your ferry and find out what all the fuss is about.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801697316-ADNFCR
