Local talent to perform on Isle of Wight ferries
Mon 22 Feb 2010
People travelling on ferries to the Isle of Wight could soon be treated to the best of the island's performers.
Ferry operator Red Funnel is running the Red Hot Talent 2010 competition, which is open to anyone from musicians to dancers.
Winners of the competition will get cash prizes, the chance to entertain ferry passengers during the summer and a slot at this year's Bestival.
Rob da Bank, the man behind the Bestival event, will be among those judging the entrants.
"I'm always on the lookout for new music and bands to support," he commented.
"The south coast is a hotbed of unearthed eccentric and otherwise musical gems."
This is the second time Red Funnel has staged the Red Hot Talent competition, which has already produced some success stories.
Last year's semi-finalist Charley MacAuley recently performed to a crowd of thousands at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight when he supported Anastasia, whose hits include Left Outside Alone.
