Jools Holland to return to the IOW

Jools Holland is set to make a triumphant return to the Isle of Wight for the first time in four years.

The piano-playing TV personality last played on the island in 2010 with Alison Moyet, but this period of absence will come to an end on April 25th, when he will perform with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at Ryde's Planet Ice Arena, alongside special guests Melanie C and Marc Almond.

Best known for introducing audiences to an eclectic selection of acts on 'Later... with Jools Holland' on the BBC, as well as fronting the annual 'Hootenanny' show on New Year's Eve, the 56-year-old tours regularly with his band, and those attending the concert can expect an exceptional standard of musicianship.

"Since the last amazing performance here in 2010, we have always wanted to bring Jools back to the Isle of Wight," Annie Horne, of promoters Green Eye Events, told the Isle of Wight County Press.

"This show will undoubtedly be a lively and vibrant performance and a fantastic evening of entertainment. The Isle of Wight audience loves Jools Holland, and with special guests Melanie C and Marc Almond appearing with Jools this time, I am sure it will be a night to remember."

Tickets for the gig are now available from the Planet Ice Arena, The Blacksheep Bar in Ryde and the Isle of Wight County Press shop in Newport.

Although it's undoubtedly Jools' show, there will be just as much interest from music fans in his guests for the evening: ex-Spice Girl Mel C and former Soft Cell frontman Marc Almond.

Since the Spice Girls split up in 2000, Sporty Spice as she was known, has been working as a solo artist and last year collaborated with X Factor winner Matt Cardle. Almond is also now a solo singer, and in 2012 appeared at the Meltdown Festival at London's Southbank Centre.

It's sure to be a great night for anyone travelling by ferry from the mainland to enjoy the show.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801693803-ADNFCR
