Isle of Wight gears up for Hedgelaying Competition
Wed 24 Feb 2010
The annual Isle of Wight Hedgelaying Competition is set to take place this weekend.
Locals and visitors on Isle of Wight holidays will be able to watch both novices and experts alike demonstrate this traditional skill.
The contest has long been a popular draw for spectators as well as participants, with a record number of people attending last year.
It will take place at Kings Manor Farm in Freshwater this Saturday (February 27th) and gets underway at 10am, with the presentations taking place in the afternoon.
VentnorBlog is among those looking forward to this year's contest.
"We've been going along to these events for a few years now and are always so impressed with the skill and dedication of those taking part," it commented.
The competition has attracted a number of sponsors this year, including the Isle of Wight Council, West Wight Landscape Partnership and the Hants & IW Wildlife Trust.
Spectators have been advised that refreshments will be available throughout the day.
