Isle of Wight business wins recognition

A business set up on the Isle of Wight has won recognition as one of the best young enterprises in the UK.

Brothers Rob and Martin Drake-Knight set up sustainable clothing brand Rapanui with just £200, reports the Hampshire Chronicle.

The Isle of Wight pair have now won praise for their efforts at the national Enterprising Young Brits competition.

Martin, a surfing enthusiast, commented: "We hope that this gives other young people the assurance that anyone can succeed as an entrepreneur, whether you wear flip-flops or a suit."

The brothers used their combined knowledge of renewable energy and business from their university degrees to put together Rapanui, which sells clothes produced from organically-grown natural fabrics.

Manufacturing is also carried out in a green manner, as the factory at which the clothes are produced is powered by wind.

Rapanui aims to inspire people to consider the effect of the choices they make on the environment, through sustainable clothing.

It also gives five per cent of its profits to environmental charities. ADNFCR-3083-ID-19725871-ADNFCR
