Folk singer returns to Isle of Wight

Acclaimed folk singer Deborah Rose is set to hold two one-off gigs on the Isle of Wight in the coming weeks.

Performing at the Dimbola Museum and Galleries on May 4th and at East Dene on the 5th, the Isle of Wight County Press reports the shows will get underway from 20:00 BST and are sure to be a night to remember for fans of the singer and folk music in general.

Rose will be accompanied each night by pianist Martin Riley, with the pair set to serenade the crowds with a number of musical stylings.

Promoter Vic King told the news provider: "In addition to writing her own songs, Deborah also has a real interest in setting the work of famous poets and writers, such as Christina Rossetti, Charles Dickens and William Blake, to music."

Returning to the island following her successful UK tour in 2011, Rose has previously played at Osborne House and also the Isle of Wight Festival.

She has also supported US folk star Judy Collins in the past, with the talented songstress describing Deborah's voice as one of the finest she has heard.

Meanwhile, the annual Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair is set to take place again this year in May, with confirmed acts to date including The Wild Oats, Holly Kirby, The MoonShiners, Scarecrow, the Nick Cane Band, Laurie McVay and Tony Farinha.

It will be a showcase of the best in the UK folk music scene, while visitors will also be able to take part in a number of other attractions, such as drinks at the Isle of Wight Real Ale beer tent and learning an array of circus skills from trained professionals.

It promises to be a weekend to remember and will be held on May 12th at Wolverton Manor.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801578762-ADNFCR
