Family events on the Isle of Wight

Few destinations are as family-friendly as the Isle of Wight. The appeal of dinosaurs and smugglers is universal and it's also only a short trip away by ferry. No need for a long plane journey or car trip during which you'll have to keep the kids entertained.

What's more, the island has a host of family-friendly events coming up that are likely to appeal to everyone. Below, you'll find a small selection of delightful activities.

The Secret Life of Bats

As part of the Secret Life of Bats project, wander the wooded pathways of the Parkhurst Forest, seeking out our winged friends and spotting their silhouettes against the moon. The kids will love keeping an eye out for these distinctive beasts and such an activity puts them in touch with nature and the creatures of the night.

Stargazing Weekend

The Workshop at the Island Planetarium is hosting a stargazing workshop on the weekend of March 1st. The kids are invited and, by bringing them along, you may well give them a wonderful experience plus a hobby they can nurture and enjoy all their lives.

The Needles Park

A distinctive collection of rocky structures edges out from the Isle of Wight's western extremity. These are the Needles, and they have a small park dedicated to them on the cliffside just above Alum Bay. Daily activities vary but often involve dinosaurs and archaeology, and they're always child-friendly. Otherwise, have a go on some of the rides and buy a stick of rock.

Robin Hill Country Adventure Park

The ever-fabulous Robin Hill Country Adventure Park features an exciting agenda this March that includes Cinema Under the Stars, a terrific alpine toboggan run and the infamous Electric Woods attraction which lights up the surrounding forest with beautiful colours.
