Enjoy the magic of Christmas on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway

Christmas is often described as a magical time, especially if you're a youngster, and there's perhaps nothing quite as brilliant as enjoying a Santa Special on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

This festive season, Old Saint Nick himself is setting up shop at Havenstreet Station, where there will be live music, a market, Winter Wonderland, Christmas garden, entertainment and magic shows, and, of course, a grotto where Father Christmas will be dishing out gifts.

After telling Santa exactly what they want for Christmas, your kids can then experience the thrill of a ten-mile round trip through the beautiful Isle of Wight countryside aboard a period steam train.

However, not everything is totally traditional as the children will also get a chance to meet Santa's alpacas, while his hardworking reindeer take a well-earned rest.

There's plenty for adults to enjoy too, with a festive tipple and mince pie included in the price. The seasonal market will also represent the ideal opportunity to pick up some Christmas presents.

Santa Specials are departing on December 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th and 20th-24th with tickets costing between £13 and £15 for adults, £9-11 for children age 5 to 15 and £7-9 for under fives, depending on which day you book.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is also putting on a Mince Pie Special on Boxing Day, which will give passengers the chance to relax aboard a steam train and hop off for a stroll in the countryside to walk off all the food consumed on Christmas Day. Tickets costs £10.50 for adults and £5.50 for children, while infants go free.

If you're not heading to the Isle of Wight until 2014, fear not as the Steam Railway reopens for business in June and operates regular services throughout the summer. It then closes in November, before reopening for the Santa Specials, Mince Pie Specials and others during the Christmas and New Year period. ADNFCR-3083-ID-801656684-ADNFCR
