Enjoy some classic romance on the island this Valentine's Day

When it comes to romance, few places can match the Isle of Wight.
After all, despite its small size, this is the island that offers the chance to watch the sun set over the Needles, relax on Queen Victoria's favourite secluded beach or simply while the night away in a cosy pub in a quaint historic fishing village.
What's more, for Valentine's Day 2014, one of the island's most-popular cultural centres is screening what's arguably one of the most romantic movies ever made, 'Casablanca'.
Quay Arts, which is situated on the waterfront in bustling Newport, will be showing the classic film alongside offering a full evening menu for couples.
The cafe, which is usually filled with walkers, school groups and culture vultures of all ages, will be completely transformed for the special day, with candles put on the tables, Champagne served instead of tea and cider, and, to cap things off, a classical guitarist adding to the atmosphere.
Tickets for the 'Casablanca' screening cost just £5 each and can be booked in advance - something which is highly-advisable given that spaces are limited and likely to be filled well before the big day.
For couples whose idea of a perfect date doesn't involve tales of spies in occupied Northern Africa during the Second World War, there are plenty of other things going on across the Isle of Wight for Valentine's Day 2014.
For instance, lots of holiday cottages and hotels, including those located in romantic seaside spots, offer special romance packages, and plenty of other local businesses, including stately homes, working farms and historic steam railways, join in with the fun, too.
In the popular tourist town of Ventnor, one silversmith will help loved-up couples make their own jewellery pieces, while the Shanklin Theatre and most other live music venues will also host special Valentine's Balls, meaning there's no excuse not to transform a short break to the Isle of Wight into a romantic getaway to remember.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801674540-ADNFCR
