Dry weather 'boosting Isle of Wight tourist attraction'

Tourists could be encouraged to book Isle of Wight holidays to head to Ventnor Botanic Garden after the tourist attraction noted the recent good weather has boosted it.

Plants from desert regions all over the world are flowering better than ever due to the hot and dry conditions on the island of late.

Chris Kidd, garden manager at Ventnor Botanic Garden, stated that he has never seen so many of the plants looking as good as they do at the present time.

He said: "It is truly a spectacular sight and something horticultural fans will rarely get the opportunity to see again."

Among the plants to be succeeding in the dry and hot weather are the Yucca schidigera from California - which is in full bloom at the moment - and the South African Lampranthus.

From June 14th to 17th 2011, the venue will be hosting the Isle of Wight Craft Guild Fair, which could make it an ideal time to check out the desert flower.
