Crime writers to meet fans in Newport

Crime writing husband and wife duo Carol and Bob Bridgestock - authors of the popular DI Dylan series of books - will be holding a launch of their new novel in Newport next month.

Fans of the series might like head along to the Waterstone's in Newport on April 6th when the pair will be unveiling their new offering White Lillies, the Isle of Wight County Press reports.

Mr Bridgestock told the newspaper: "I have 30 years of stories and, while Dylan is purely fictional, I do draw on this vast reservoir of knowledge to ensure our books are totally authentic in policing, tone, observation and investigative procedures.

"We want to crush the myth of the maverick detective and show the reality of the women and men who stand quietly but solidly behind their policing partners."

The husband and wife team have written two books prior to this one - their debut Deadly Focus and its successor Consequences - with their latest release building on the major themes of juggling the demanding life of being a modern day detective with that of having a family.

Ms Bridgestock added that the books reflect the pressures and strains of their own lives to some extent, with the pair having spent a combined 47 years working in the police force.

Their new novel investigates a hit-and-run murder of three people and the sexual assaults of two young girls, with DI Dylan juggling multiple cases and a heavy workload, much like both Mr and Mrs Bridgestock had to.

Meanwhile, skate fans planning a Newport getaway in the coming weeks might like to check out a new exhibition of works by Ged Wells - a renowned painter of skateboards, with acclaimed works dating back to the 1970s.

He told the County Press: "I like to start with a concept for a show which can take me in an unknown direction, so I can make a new story, create a new world."ADNFCR-3083-ID-801562816-ADNFCR
